This Privacy Policy explains how LetsChat AI LLC (“LetsChat,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the LetsChat mobile app, website, and related services.
1. Information Stored on Your Device
LetsChat stores certain information locally on your device so the app can function, remember your settings, and provide a personalized experience. This may include:
- Recent chat history and conversation context;
- A short recent-conversation memory used to help the app stay on topic;
- Your preferred name, interests, and conversation style, if you choose to enter them;
- Reply-length, voice, speech-speed, caption, display, and Call Mode preferences;
- Your selected on-device conversation model;
- Locally downloaded conversation-model files;
- Daily Free-plan message-usage counters;
- Local subscription-entitlement status received through Apple StoreKit; and
- Other app preferences needed to operate LetsChat.
This information remains on your device unless you intentionally provide it to us through a support request or another feature described in this Policy.
2. Artificial Intelligence and On-Device Processing
LetsChat uses a language model that runs locally on your device to generate conversational responses. The app includes a local TinyLlama conversation model and may allow you to download and select an optional larger Llama conversation model.
After a model is installed, response generation takes place locally on your device. LetsChat does not send ordinary chat messages, conversation history, personalization information, or generated prompts to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or another third-party cloud generative-AI service for response generation.
The local conversation model may process:
- Text you enter into the app;
- Transcripts created when you use Call Mode;
- A limited number of recent conversation messages;
- Your preferred name, interests, and conversation style, if voluntarily provided;
- A short locally stored recent-conversation memory; and
- Other information that you voluntarily include in a conversation.
This information is used to generate responses and personalize the conversation on your device.
Because LetsChat processes the content that users choose to type or say, users should avoid sharing highly sensitive information that is not necessary for their conversation.
3. Optional Model Downloads and Network Requests
If you choose to download an optional conversation model, the app contacts a third-party file-hosting provider to retrieve the model file. The provider may automatically receive technical network information normally transmitted during a file download, such as:
- Your IP address;
- The requested model-file address;
- The date and time of the request;
- Device, connection, or browser-related request information; and
- Security, delivery, and diagnostic logs.
Your chat messages, conversation history, preferred name, interests, and conversation prompts are not included in the model-file download request. After the model is downloaded, it is stored and operated locally on your device.
4. Microphone and Apple Speech Recognition
Call Mode uses microphone access so you can speak to the app. When Call Mode is active and listening, microphone audio is provided to Apple’s Speech Recognition framework to convert your speech into text.
Apple may process speech recognition on your device or through Apple’s speech-recognition services, depending on factors such as the device, operating-system version, language, network connection, and availability of on-device speech recognition. This means spoken audio may be sent to Apple for transcription.
The resulting transcript is then processed by LetsChat’s local conversation model to generate a response. LetsChat does not send Call Mode audio or transcripts to its own servers for generative-AI response processing.
You can control microphone and speech-recognition permissions through your device’s iOS or iPadOS Settings. Apple’s handling of information is governed by Apple’s own privacy policies and terms.
5. Voice Output and Text-to-Speech
LetsChat may read generated responses aloud during Call Mode. Depending on the voice you select, the app uses either Apple’s text-to-speech functionality or a locally bundled Piper voice model.
The Piper voice model generates spoken audio locally on your device. LetsChat does not send generated responses to an independent cloud text-to-speech provider.
Apple’s handling of information used by Apple text-to-speech features is governed by Apple’s own privacy policies and terms.
6. App Store Purchases and Subscriptions
LetsChat offers optional Pro and Premium auto-renewable subscriptions through the Apple App Store. Apple processes the purchase, billing, renewal, cancellation, and payment transaction.
LetsChat receives limited subscription and transaction-entitlement information through StoreKit so the app can determine whether a Pro or Premium subscription is active and restore eligible purchases.
LetsChat does not receive your complete payment-card number, Apple Account password, or complete App Store payment credentials. Payment and subscription information processed by Apple is governed by Apple’s own terms and privacy policies.
Paid digital features in the public App Store version of LetsChat are unlocked through Apple’s In-App Purchase system.
7. Website Hosting and Technical Logs
When you visit the LetsChat website, our hosting, content-delivery, and security providers may automatically process limited technical information needed to deliver and protect the website. This may include:
- Your IP address;
- Browser and device information;
- Pages and files requested;
- Request dates and times;
- Referring-page information, when transmitted; and
- Security, error, and diagnostic logs.
We use this information to operate the website, maintain security, diagnose technical problems, prevent abuse, and ensure reliable delivery. We do not use this information for cross-app tracking or targeted advertising.
8. Support Communications
If you contact us for support, we may receive your email address and any information you choose to include, such as:
- Your name or contact information;
- The content of your support message;
- Screenshots or screen recordings;
- Device and operating-system details;
- Error messages or technical logs; and
- Conversation examples you voluntarily provide.
We use this information to respond to your request, diagnose problems, improve reliability, maintain security, and protect the service.
Please avoid sending highly sensitive personal information in a support message unless it is necessary for us to assist you.
9. How We Use Information
We use information only as reasonably necessary to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain LetsChat;
- Generate and personalize conversations locally on your device;
- Provide speech recognition and voice features you choose to use;
- Download optional local conversation models;
- Recognize valid App Store subscription entitlements;
- Respond to support requests;
- Improve reliability, accessibility, security, and safety;
- Detect, prevent, or investigate misuse and technical problems; and
- Comply with legal obligations.
10. Data Sharing and Service Providers
We do not sell personal information. We do not use chat content for targeted advertising, third-party advertising profiles, or cross-app tracking.
Information may be processed or shared only as reasonably necessary:
- With Apple when you use Apple services such as StoreKit, Speech Recognition, or Apple text-to-speech functionality;
- With hosting and content-delivery providers when you visit our website or download an optional model file;
- With email or support providers when you contact us for assistance;
- When required by law or valid legal process;
- To protect the rights, safety, property, and security of users, LetsChat, or others; or
- As part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law and appropriate safeguards.
11. Data Retention
Local app information remains on your device until you reset it through the app, remove it through available device controls, or delete the app.
Optional model files remain on your device while stored within the app’s local storage. Deleting the app generally removes the app and its locally stored data from that device, subject to Apple’s device, backup, and restoration functionality.
Support communications may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to answer your request, maintain business and security records, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.
Website, hosting, security, and model-download providers may retain technical logs according to their own retention practices and applicable agreements.
12. Resetting or Deleting Local Data
You can clear locally stored app information by selecting Reset My Data under the Info and Support screen in LetsChat. This clears locally saved chat history, personalization, settings, usage counters, and locally cached plan status.
Resetting local app data does not cancel an App Store subscription. App Store subscriptions must be managed or canceled through your Apple Account or App Store subscription settings.
Deleting the app also removes locally stored app data from that device, subject to device backups and Apple’s restoration functionality.
To ask about information that may be held by LetsChat through support communications, email LetsChatAILLC@gmail.com.
13. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect information. However, no electronic storage or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Information stored locally on your device is also affected by the security of your device, Apple Account, passcode, backups, and operating system. We encourage users to keep their devices and software updated and to use appropriate device-security features.
14. Children
LetsChat is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review the situation and take appropriate action.
15. Third-Party Services and Links
LetsChat and its website may provide links to Apple or other third-party websites and services. Those third parties operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We encourage you to review their policies before providing information to them.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date above. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or through another appropriate method.
